I’m looking very much forward to this exciting tour with Bohuslän Big Band, featuring the world known Grammy award winning composer and arranger Maria Schneider.
We will perform 7 concerts in Sweden in october – (Malmö, Kalmar, Stockholm, Ôrebro, Göteborg, Vara and Uppsala)
You can find the exact time and places here:
During the Copenhagen Jazzfestival July 2017 I will be part of 2 different ensembles that both make their débuts presenting a lot of new and interesting music.
July 12th it’s the “Bebiandi – Postkort fra Mellemrummet” – a septet.
Paradise Jazzcafe, Huset 21:00
Lisbeth Diers, Thommy Andersson, Pernille Bévort and Signe Bisgaard are the 4 composers and band leaders.
4 composers create one concentrated musical idea – a postcard – and sends it to the other 3.
3 postcard are received by each composer that uses the postcards as inspiration for writing 3 new compositions.
7 musicians prepare and rehearse the music for the premiere.
12 new compositions with shared take-off will create an evening of music with a joint story.
Pernille Bévort: composition, tenor- and soprano saxophone, bass clarinet and alto flute; Fredrik Davidsson (S): trumpet/flugelhorn; Lisa Stick: (DE): trombone; Ida Nørholm: cello; Signe Bisgaard: composition, piano; Thommy Andersson: composition, bass; Lisbeth Diers: composition, perc/drums
This evening I will premiere 3 compositions: Bebiandi, Totur fra Vanløse and Kort og Godt
Fredrik Lundin (mezzosoprano- and tenor saxophone, flute and bass flute) Peter Fuglsang (alto saxophone, flute and clarinet) Pernille Bévort (tenor- and soprano saxophone, alto flute and bass clarinet) Jesper Løvdal (baryton saxophone, alto flute, clarinet and contrabass clarinet) Tomasz Dabrowski (trumpet and flugelhorn) Maj Berit Guassora (trumpet and flugelhorn) Mia Engsager (trombone) Annette Saxe (bass trombone and tuba) Kasper Bai (guitar and conducting) Makiko Hirabayashi (piano and keyboard) Klavs Hovman (double bass and electric bass) Emil de Waal (drums and electronics) Marilyn Mazur (percussion and conducting)
I’m very glad to see that my contribution to this new release is mentioned in this Cd review by Patrick Hadfield. “Charlie Watts Meets The Danish Radio Big Band” is a live recording from the DR Concert Hall with the Big Band featuring the legendary drummer Charlie Watts (The Rolling Stones).
I was part of the DR Big Band on this project – called in with very short notice as a sub on the alto and soprano saxophones.
“You Can’t Always Get What You Want is taken fast and tight, with Presencer’s flugelhorn leading the melody over the band riffing. The Hammond-like organ creates a funky feel. Pernille Bevort extended solo on soprano sax ramps you the excitement to a climax”
You can also listen to a couple of the tunes on Spotify:
